Works of Other Authors
PHILOSOPHYThe term 'philosophy' has come to mean a wide range of things to scholars and laymen alike. Under the rubric 'philosophy' is included, e.g., the study of the major works of recognised philosophers of the Western and Eastern traditions, the study of philosophers' thoughts on specifically philosophical issues and topics, mysticism and occultism, spirituality, and such activity as modern analytic philosophy. Sri Aurobindo's philosophy may be considered as dealing in most of these.SABDA's philosophy titles by authors other than Sri Aurobindo cover several aspects of what can broadly be considered the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo. Commentaries on topics specifically dealt with in his philosophical magnum opus, The Life Divine; applications of his philosophical thought to everyday issues; practical interpretations, sophisticated or relatively simple for the lay reader, of his philosophy based on the experiences of the authors themselves; discussions on the descent of the supramental consciousness leading to the transformation of mind, life and body—all these and more comprise aspects of Sri Aurobindo's philosophical thought that are explored in these titles. Some works encompass a broad swathe of Sri Aurobindo's philosophical landscape—K.D. Sethna's short Development of Sri Aurobindo's Spiritual System and the Mother's Contribution to it is one example. Mysticism in Sri Aurobindo's philosophy is dealt with in such titles as Nolini Kanta Gupta's Essays on Mysticism. For those who are new to Sri Aurobindo's philosophy, SABDA carries such titles as S. K. Maitra's Introduction to the Philosophy of Sri Aurobindo and M. P. Pandit's Introducing the Life Divine.
